SCCR Receives Full AAALAC Accreditation

The Jack H. Skirball Center for Cardiovascular Research (SCCR) was recently granted full accreditation by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC International). AAALAC commended SCCR for providing and maintaining an exemplary program of preclinical care and use.

AAALAC also noted SCCR’s high level of institutional support, its highly trained, skilled, and motivated staff, and the exceptional facilities and equipment for surgical intervention. AAALAC accreditation is recognized worldwide as the “gold standard” for experimental research programs.

Gregg W. Stone, MD, to Be Honored with 2010 Achievement Award from New Cardiovascular Horizons

Gregg W. Stone, MD, will receive the 2010 Achievement Award from New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) on Friday, June 4, during NCVH 2010 in New Orleans, LA. The award recognizes leaders in cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Stone will be recognized and deliver his presentation during the “Masters and Legends in Cardiovascular Medicine” session.

Established to recognize leaders in the field of cardiology and limb salvage, the NCVH Achievement Award has been bestowed on pioneers
in the industry, including Julio Palmaz, MD, Edward B. Diethrich, MD, Martin Leon, MD, and Michael E. DeBakey, MD.

New Cardiovascular Horizons is the longest running “head-to-toe” cardiovascular meeting to focus on limb salvage and amputation prevention techniques.

 

TCT2010 to Have Significant Impact on Interventional Cardiology Practices and Patient Care

Excel Trial Will Determine Safety and Efficacy of Drug-Eluting Stents vs. Bypass Surgery in Patients with Left Main Coronary Artery Disease

The announcement of a new clinical trial, EXCEL (Evaluation of Xience Prime versus Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery for Effectiveness of Left Main Revascularization), that will compare drug-eluting stents to coronary artery bypass graft surgery in patients with left main coronary artery disease, was made today at “Optimizing PCI Outcomes: Evolving Paradigms,” a symposium presented by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.
