Hyperlipidemia

Patients diagnosed with hyperlipidemia have cholesterol and triglyceride levels that put them at risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and heart attacks.

Managing hyperlipidemia begins with behavioral changes including diet, exercise, quitting smoking, and maintaining a healthy weight. When these efforts are not enough, medications may help. The most common of these drugs, statins, come in pill form. Additionally, injectable drugs that belong to a new class of agents called PCSK9 inhibitors have recently been approved to accompany diet and statin therapy in some patients who are unable to get their low-density lipoprotein cholesterol under control or who cannot tolerate statins.

CRF is committed to advancing cardiovascular research and improving care for patients with heart disease. Using our vast clinical, scientific, and unique imaging expertise, we are focused on developing technologies, therapies, and treatments for disease states such as hyperlipidemia.
