May 8, 2018 – CRF faculty member, Roxana Mehran, MD, was presented with the Excellence in Medical Leadership Award during the 18th Annual Wenger Awards in Washington, DC on Monday, May 7, 2018. The annual awards ceremony organized by WomenHeart is named after Nanette K. Wenger, MD, a pioneer in women’s cardiology, and recognizes individuals and organizations for their extraordinary contributions to women’s heart health.
Roxana Mehran, MD, is a Course Co-Director of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the annual scientific symposium of CRF. She is also Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of Interventional Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Trials at the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute.
Dr. Mehran is internationally renowned for her work as a clinical trial specialist with complex data analyses and outcomes research within the field of interventional cardiovascular medicine. She currently serves on the board of trustees of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and is a member of the Program Committee for the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions. She is also the co-founder and Program Chair of SCAI's Women in Innovations (WIN), a global initiative aimed at creating and strengthening research, educational, and professional opportunities for female interventional cardiologists.
