Intravascular Ultrasound Research Fellowship

The IVUS research fellowship is organized in conjunction with Columbia University. IVUS research fellows rotate through the Columbia University Catheterization Laboratories to learn the clinical discipline of IVUS imaging as well as other invasive imaging and physiologic modalities (VH-IVUS, FFR, OCT, etc). To complement this, IVUS research fellows are assigned responsibilities in the CRF IVUS Core Laboratory. The IVUS Core Laboratory analyzes single and multicenter studies ranging from small first-in-man registries to large, randomized trials utilizing grayscale IVUS, VH-IVUS, palpography, and OCT. IVUS research fellows are encouraged to develop their own interests and projects utilizing either clinical data from Columbia University or multicenter data from CRF and to publish their findings.

Applicants must provide the following:

  1. Completed application (click here)
  2. Current curriculum vitae (must have e-mail address)
  3. Three letters of recommendation on institutional letterhead (official stationery)
  4. Copies of diplomas and licenses
  5. Cover letter detailing previous IVUS (or other invasive imaging) experience and any specific areas of interest (although previous experience is not necessary, this information will be helpful to the selection committee)

An interview will be necessary, but it can take place before or after the formal application.

Both one- and two-year positions and salaried and unsalaried positions are available. However, preference will be given to individuals who can provide complete or partial funding (including health insurance) and/or individuals who are interested in a two-year position. Documentation of funding will be necessary. Questions and inquiries should be addressed to Gary S. Mintz, MD, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
