Overview/Learning Objectives:

Physicians will come away from this course with a greater understanding of the anatomy of the arterial septum and its surrounding structures via heart dissection, as well as the imaging assessments of patient foramen ovales and the procedural nuances of closure/trans-septal access via simulation.

This workshop is intended for interventional or imaging physicians who are interested in the Amplatzer PFO occluder.

Learning Objectives:

  • Possess a basic understanding of the anatomy and procedure to cross the septum for left atrial access.
  • Understand the products and tools available to conduct a trans-septal procedure.
  • Apply skills of crossing the septum through use of hands-on models and simulation tools.

Target Audience:

This hands-on workshop is intended for the practicing interventional cardiologist who is planning on performing procedures involving left atrial access, such as, but not limited to, transcatheter mitral valve repair, LAA closure, and mitral valvuloplasty.

Overview:

A Roundtable Discussion With LAAC Experts

This workshop is intended for the practicing interventionalist in Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) who treats patients with NVAF.  The workshop will provide time to review your and faculty cases with LAAC experts.  Those that attend this roundtable discussion should bring cases to share and discuss during the sessions. 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, the attendee should be able to:

  • Discuss the current state of evidence-based medicine for stroke risk reduction in patients with NVAF.
  • Review the clinical considerations for Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC).
  • Review the appropriate patient and anatomical selection for LAAC.

Target Audience:

This workshop is designed for those individuals certified on Watchman and currently implanting the device.
