Michael Davidson 5K Run/Walk to Take Place October 11, 2015

 
NEW YORK, NY – September 14, 2015 – To honor the life and work of Dr. Michael Davidson, the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) has partnered with the San Francisco Giants to host the Dr. Michael Davidson 5K Run/Walk during Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the world’s premier educational meeting specializing in interventional cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Davidson, then Director of Endovascular Cardiac Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, was tragically murdered this past January at the age of 44. All proceeds of the race will be donated to the Davidson Family Education Fund for the education of Michael’s four children.

Registration is $100 for individual runners and team entries (four runners) are $5,000.

Background:

On January 20, 2015, Dr. Michael Davidson was tragically murdered by the son of a former patient in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was Director of Endovascular Cardiac Surgery and an integral member of the interventional cardiovascular medicine family. He is survived by his wife Dr. Terri Halperin and their three young children. Less than three months after his death, the couple’s fourth child, Mikaela, was born at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Davidson was a community member, husband, father and dear friend to many. He is remembered for his devotion to improving the quality of life for his patients, his enthusiasm for learning, his passion for running, and his warm spirit.
